7 Books Every Millennial Should Read This 2016
Millennials are still predominantly the youngest in the workforce. Having the ability to see the world with fresh eyes, we ultimately have the power to bring in new ideas and make an impact.

But there's still so much to learn and, definitely, more room for growth. And so it's only high time for us to leverage on the gazillion opportunities we have to get better.

2016 will definitely bring in more challenges. And if you think you haven't done much to prepare for the things coming your way, don't panic.

It's never too late to enlighten yourself with a couple of good books to help equip you achieve your goals.

And so without further ado, here's a short list of books that you need to start reading to kickstart your year:

1) Linchpin: Are You Indispensable? by Seth Godin

Linchpin: Are You Indispensable? by Seth Godin, What Millennials Should Read
There's a good reason why I've put this first on the list. If you want to put your career on the right track early on this year, you've got to read this book.

Seth Godin does a remarkable job pointing out the culprit behind people's misery and dissatisfaction towards their jobs. He poses the rather unsettling question: are you indispensable? Are you the linchpin that great organisations can't live without?

Reading this book will make you realise that it takes more than just skill and knowledge to be a linchpin. And it's worth finding out what it takes to be one.

2) The Heart of Things: Applying Philosophy In the 21st Century by A.C. Grayling

The Heart of Things by AC Grayling, What Millennials Should Read
This is one of my favourites. I've been sharing this all over social media for the past couple of weeks. It's one of those books you will definitely find useful and valuable anytime of the year.

Let's admit it, we all wish to live a fulfilling and satisfying life. But as setbacks and challenges get in the way, the more we need to reflect on the choices we make everyday. This is where philosophy comes in and we need it more than anything in the 21st Century.

In this book, A.C. Grayling gives us bite-size pieces of philosophy, going deeper into the heart of things -- from personal questions to wider public concerns we face everyday.

3) Lean In 15 by Joe Wicks

Lean In 15 by Joe Wicks, What Millennials Should Read
It didn't come as a surprise that Joe Wick's Lean In 15 has been dominating the UK charts for four consecutive weeks already.

Check out his Instagram account (@thebodycoach) and enough said. This guy is definitely HASHTAG #fitnessgoals.

And hey, he's not one of those social media superstars that make you feel insecure about your own body. This man is on a mission to rescue people from the awful dieting industry and his book is meant to give you tips and recipes to help you get lean and healthy this 2016!

4) Introvert Power by Laurie Helgoe

Introvert Power by Laurie Helgoe, What Millennials Should Read
In a world where the bold, quick, and sociable are much more recognised and celebrated, being the opposite is often seen as weakness. As such, a lot of people end up being pressured to conform and fit into the 'extrovert ideal'.

In this book, Dr. Laurie Helgoe illustrates how introspection can actually be a source of power rather than a problem.

If you're an introvert, this is your chance to fully understand your inner self and maximize your full potential. If you're an extrovert, this is a valuable tool to fully understand and enhance your relationships with your introvert friends and colleagues.

5) The Diet Myth: The Real Science Behind What We Eat by Tim Spector

The Diet Myth by Dr Tim Spector, What Millennials Should Read
Somebody once told me that great minds deserve great bodies. Perhaps this should give us enough reasons to be more mindful of what we eat.

If you ever wondered how the French can manage eating a lot of cheese without getting fat;
or perhaps, the real score behind eating dark chocolate and 'low fat' foods among other things, then you better grab this book.

Professor Tim Spector's The Diet Myth explains the science behind getting lean and healthy, particularly how our genes and the bacteria in our body affect our weight and health. There's really so much more to learn!

6) Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki

Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki, What Millennials Should Read
This book is pretty old but nevertheless relevant. If you haven't read this yet, now is the time to do so.

Robert Kiyosaki's Rich Dad Poor Dad seeks to explain valuable financial insights we usually don't get to study in school. It will definitely change your mindset on how you deal with money.

So don't wait for your finances to crumble before you actually start caring to understand how money works in the real world.

Do yourself a favour by helping yourself become financially literate. Start this 2016 and I hope this won't be the last personal finance book you will ever read!

7) Into The Funnel: Proven Tactics To Turn Your Social And Content Marketing Up To 11 by Jason Miller

Into The Funnel by Jason Miller, What Millennials Should Read
We, millennials, have been using social media for the longest time. But are we making the most out of it?

In a world where everyone's connected online, it's definitely an advantage if you understand how to leverage content across different platforms. And having the knowledge and skill to do so will make us even more valuable.

If you want to get serious with social media and content, Jason Miller's Into The Funnel would definitely be helpful.

A.C. Grayling, Joe Wicks, and Tim Spector were at the 8th Emirates Airline Festival of Literature.

Stay tuned for more updates regarding authors who are coming on the 12th Festival, 4-9 February 2019!
